OUR STORY

Houndstooth opened its doors in 2019, the vision of sibling chefs James and Cheyenne Galbraith. Their goal was simple but ambitious: to bring an adventurous dining experience to the heart of Southwest Michigan. What started as a family dream quickly became a beloved space known for its creativity, warmth, and fearless approach to food.

Now, six years in and following the departure of co-founder James, Cheyenne carries the torch—leading Houndstooth into its next chapter with a renewed focus not just on what’s on the plate, but on the people behind the scenes. Her vision is cultivating a space where hospitality workers—chefs, servers, bartenders, dishwashers—can learn, grow, and thrive in a thoughtful, healthy, and collaborative environment. A workplace that values heart, respect, and curiosity as much as craft.

At Houndstooth, we believe that food is the cornerstone of togetherness. Our menu is ever-evolving, inspired by the seasons and the hands that shape it. You can see it all unfold from the open kitchen and bar—the rhythm of the line, the joy, the chaos, the camaraderie. We want you to feel the pulse of the place, not just taste what’s on your plate.

This isn’t just about dinner. It’s about connection. It’s about storytelling through ingredients, music in the clatter of pans, and finding joy in the unexpected. We’re here to celebrate, experiment, welcome the messiness of life—and share all of it with you.

At Houndstooth, you’re not just a guest. You’re a friend at our table.
